A DIFFERENT KIND OF SPINE CARE
Your Spine. Your Life.
Our Focus.
At Palm Beach Spine & Disc Replacement Center, every patient begins with a single question: what is the right answer for this person, at this stage of their condition? Dr. Jason M. Cuéllar and his team bring world-class expertise in motion-preserving spine care to Palm Beach - and a commitment to finding that right answer, even when it means challenging the conventional recommendation.
We do not believe that spinal fusion is the default. For many patients dealing with disc degeneration, herniated discs, or chronic neck and back pain, artificial disc replacement offers a fundamentally better path - one that relieves pain without sacrificing movement. If you have been told fusion is your only option, we encourage you to get a second opinion here.
PIONEER IN MOTION PRESERVATION
Expertise and Precision
You Can Trust.
Dr. Jason M. Cuéllar is a fellowship-trained orthopaedic spine surgeon and one of the most experienced artificial disc replacement surgeons in the country — advancing motion preservation through complex, multi-level procedures that most spine surgeons are not trained to attempt.
His practice treats spinal disorders, neck pain, and back pain through both surgical and non-surgical approaches — every plan built around the patient, not a protocol.

EXPERTISE & TREATMENTS
Treatments Tailored To Your Spine.
Artificial Disc Replacement
ADR is a surgical procedure in which a damaged spinal disc is replaced with a precision-engineered implant that replicates the motion of a natural disc. Dr. Cuéllar specializes in both cervical and lumbar ADR, including complex multi-level cases.

Cervical Disc Replacement
For patients with neck pain caused by disc degeneration or herniation, cervical disc replacement removes the damaged disc and restores motion at that spinal level - offering a proven alternative to anterior cervical fusion.
LEARN MORE →
Lumbar Disc Replacement
Lumbar disc replacement addresses lower back pain caused by damaged or degenerated discs in the lumbar spine, preserving natural movement and reducing the risk of adjacent segment deterioration.

Multi-Level Disc Replacement
Some patients require disc replacement at two or more spinal levels. Dr. Cuéllar is among a small group of surgeons nationwide with extensive experience performing multi-level ADR, including procedures other surgeons have declined.
Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery
Minimally invasive techniques use specialized instruments and smaller incisions to reach the spine with precision, reducing disruption to surrounding tissue and accelerating recovery time.
LEARN MORE →
Microdiscectomy
A targeted procedure for herniated disc relief, microdiscectomy removes the portion of the disc placing pressure on a nerve root, delivering fast and lasting relief from radiating pain.
A2M Injections
Alpha-2-Macroglobulin (A2M) is a naturally occurring protein that helps block the enzymes responsible for cartilage breakdown. Concentrated A2M injections can reduce inflammation and protect joint tissue - a regenerative option for patients seeking non-surgical relief.

Non-Surgical Spine Care
Surgery is not always the right first step. We explore conservative and non-operative options - including pain management, physical therapy referrals, and targeted injections - before recommending any surgical intervention.
Spinal Fusion Alternatives
If another surgeon has recommended spinal fusion, we encourage a consultation to determine whether disc replacement or another motion-preserving approach might be a better fit for your specific condition.

Jason M. Cuéllar, MD, PhD
Board-Certified Orthopaedic Spine Surgeon. Fellowship-Trained. Pioneer in Artificial Disc Replacement.
“My goal is not just to relieve your pain. It is to give you your life back — without trading one limitation for another.”
Few surgeons have done more to advance motion-preserving spine care than Dr. Cuéllar. Fellowship-trained and board-certified, he built his career on a single conviction — that fusion should never be the default — and routinely performs complex, multi-level artificial disc replacements that most surgeons won't attempt.
His expertise is recognized at the highest levels: affiliations with Jupiter Medical Center and JFK North; published research in the International Journal of Spine Surgery; and a role in the FDA trials shaping the next generation of disc implants — now brought directly to Palm Beach.

Frequently Asked Questions
I've been dealing with neck or back pain for a while. When does it make sense to see a spine specialist?
If pain is limiting your daily life, radiating into your arms or legs, or hasn't responded to rest, physical therapy, or injections, it's worth getting a specialist's opinion. At Palm Beach Spine & Disc Replacement Center, we start with a thorough evaluation of your imaging and symptoms, not to rush you toward surgery, but to give you a clear picture of what's actually going on and what your real options are.
I've heard spine surgery doesn't always work. How do I know if it's actually right for me?
That concern is valid, and it's exactly why surgery is never our first recommendation. We only consider it when conservative treatments haven't provided meaningful relief and your imaging confirms a clear structural reason for your symptoms. Dr. Cuéllar will walk you through his reasoning so you understand exactly why surgery is or isn't the right path for you.
My doctor mentioned fusion. Is that my only option?
Not necessarily. For many patients with disc-related conditions, artificial disc replacement is a strong alternative — and often a better one. Unlike fusion, which permanently locks two vertebrae together, disc replacement uses a precision implant designed to preserve natural movement at that segment. Dr. Cuéllar is fellowship-trained in this procedure and has performed it at a volume most spine surgeons never reach, including complex multi-level cases.
What if I'm not ready for surgery, do you offer anything else?
Yes. Depending on your condition and history, non-surgical options may include targeted pain management injections, physical therapy referrals, activity modification, and regenerative approaches such as A2M injections. Many patients find meaningful relief without ever needing an operation.
How do I know if I'm actually a candidate for disc replacement?
You may be a candidate if your pain originates from a damaged or degenerated disc in the cervical or lumbar spine and conservative treatment hasn't provided sufficient relief. Candidacy also depends on spinal stability, your overall health, and the specific characteristics of your condition. Dr. Cuéllar reviews your full clinical picture, not just your MRI, before making any recommendation.
I'm not local to Palm Beach. Is it worth traveling to see Dr. Cuéllar?
Many of our patients come from across Florida and the United States, specifically for Dr. Cuéllar's expertise in artificial disc replacement and complex motion-preserving surgery. If you've been told your case is complicated, or you want a second opinion from someone who specializes in disc replacement rather than treats it as a last resort, it's worth the trip.
Will my insurance cover this?
Dr. Cuéllar accepts most major insurance plans and is also available as an out-of-network provider. Coverage depends on your plan, your benefits, and the recommended treatment. Our team will review your insurance information before your visit and help you understand any anticipated out-of-pocket costs before you commit to anything.
